The Hurco VMX30UHSi will take centre stage at this year's IMTS exhibition

High speed machining, automation and new machine concepts lead the way for Hurco at this year's IMTS show.
The Hurco head office is based in Indianapolis, USA. Therefore the bi-annual IMTS show is the major domestic opportunity to show off our latest technology.
Holding centre-stage is a new high speed version of the popular VMX30Ui. This model has an 18,000 rpm motorised spindle and HSK63A tooling. The machine is capable of achieving the best results in terms of accuracy, throughput and surface finish that we have been able to achieve from this type of trunnion machine.
The VMX30U-HSi will be integrated with an Erowa Robot Compact system.
This is in response to an increasing demand from customers to automate their Hurco machines. With volumes increasing and a shortage of skilled labour available in the market, this type of approach is proving to be ideal.
Hurco will additionally be showing 3 new machine prototypes. Depending upon demand and feedback, all have the potential to become saleable products in the future.
The TMM12i is a driven tool version of the TM12i lathe. The addition of a C axis allows off-centre drilling operations and basic milling functions for large turned components.
The HBX-55 is a horizontal boring mill. It is designed to manage a large capacity within a small footprint. It has a 4 tonne workpiece capacity and a 60 tool, 50 taper ATC. Initially designed for the US market, it can easily be made available for the European markets, should demand dictate.
The VCX600i represents a potential new design of 5-axis machine that will complement the Ui and SRTi ranges. Based around a large capacity cantilevered trunnion table, it allows heavier components to be machined and manipulated than is possible on the Ui range.
On Tuesday 9th September, the winner of the "Chipmaker Challenge" will be announced. Effectively, a "Dragon's Den" style competition, whereby the best pitch wins a VMX42i machining centre or TM8i lathe. The overall winner will be selected from hundreds of entries by independent judges. Unfortunately, the competition is only open to US residents! |
