Emerging technology and industry-standard products showcased
PITTSBURGH, March 14, 2013 -PPG Industries' (NYSE:PPG) fiber glass business featured industry-standard products, updates on glass operations and composition research, and information on technology currently in development during JEC Europe 2013 in Paris, March 12-14. The company highlighted the following at Stand G18:
CHOPVANTAGE(R) HP 3610 chopped fiber glass, an industry standard for hydrolysis-resistant polyamides in long-life coolant systems, is the first to have all of its ingredients approved for the positive list of the Commission Regulation (EU) 10/2011. The regulation establishes specific requirements applicable to the manufacture and marketing of plastic materials and articles intended to come in contact with food.
PPG is evaluating cast polyamide in-mold caprolactam polymerization technology, which focuses on making a one-step high-performance thermoplastic composite part with the versatility of a thermoset and the ductility and recyclability of a thermoplastic. The company unveiled the technology in January to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 molders and compounders at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2013 in Detroit.
The portfolio of INNOFIBER(R) specialty glass composition fibers has been updated, and PPG provided details on new products and updated test results for the line.
Recent upgrades and reinvestment in technology and equipment for the constructions of L.E.X.(R) and TEXO(R) texturized yarns have enabled PPG to continue offering these products to customers worldwide.
