CHOMARAT launches two new design products for high-end markets

Chomarat, specialist in textile reinforcements for composite materials, is launching C-WEAVE Spread and OFLEX Design, two new high-end product lines. Both combine high-tech features, strength and innovative design.
C-Weave SP: a new spread fibre reinforcement for high-end Class A parts
Chomarat is extending its line of carbon reinforcements with C-Weave SP, a new line of spread carbon fabrics for composite parts with high aesthetic performance requirements, especially for the high-end automotive, sports & leisure, luggage and telephone markets.
C-Weave SP spread carbon fabric is made with 200 g/m2 3K fibres and is available in plain or twill weave. C-Weave SP achieves a 99% spreading rate (compared to the usual average 85-92% rate). At this rate, it is possible to obtain carbon composite parts that are 20% lighter (compared to 245 g/m2 3K fibres), with impeccable surface quality and optimized aesthetics, performance and cost. Chomarat worked on the choice of raw materials, production process and quality control, all of which are crucial selection criteria for this type of technically demanding product.
Since Chomarat has facilities in China, the new line will also be locally available in the Asian region.
Chomarat will give Asia a preview of its Oflex™ Design, a flexible composite offering new design possibilities
Oflex™ Design is a flexible coated composite reinforcement that offers new design possibilities and high performance.
Oflex™ Design is the result of synergy between Chomarat's textile expertise for composites and coating technology skills. It consists of a glass, aramid or carbon fabric or multiaxial impregnated with a flexible, translucent thermoplastic matrix. The concept enables a broad range of combinations between a weave (plain, twill, satin, multiaxial) and a material (glass, aramid, carbon or hybrid). "Oflex Design™ makes it possible to offer our customers a unique, customized engineered textile, with a matchless weight/mechanical properties ratio compared to traditional concepts, thanks to the use of high-performance fibres", says Philippe Chomarat, manager of Chomarat's Plastics business line.
